He did it at the Pennefarther whie fishing from the rocks. Made a wrong step and heard a snap. The following 2 days he walked/limped around on it before going to a hospital to get it checked.

I was surprised. Its the biggest catty i have seen up here before. He was released but i agree with you xina. It would have been a great crucifix.

This is great fellas.

I hope you are grabbing some video footage too. Could be a ton of stuff to throw up on youtube for all of us to have a look at. Cape York movie stars in action.

I tell ya what though, there's a few rough nuts in that crowd ... and who the hell costumed up that fella with the gammy foot? Yellow Crocs, Nedly?!!

See, that's proof that driving a bloody Nissan will rob a man of any self-respect.

Enjoy the rest of the trip everyone.

Hey, Ant, hope the stress has faded a little for you.

First he snaps the Nissan chassis in half, then his leg, be careful Nedly. What's next???
Poor bugger, that's the last thing you need on a long trip! The upside is that with the wife driving you are free to drink all day. Hope the alcohol is killing the pain mate.

Please explain to a non fisher type person what a crucifix is???

In catfish, there is a bone in the head that resembles jesus nailed to the cross. This is commonly known as a crucifix.

Default Crucifix.

Don't know about recent editions, but Grants' Book of Australian Fishes used to have a good photo of one. Souvenier shops sell them in Cairns and Cooktown, or they used to 20 odd years ago.
Cheers,
xina.

Campdog,

I see via "Spot" that Ant & the boys have spent a day or 2 at our favourite place - Vrilya Point, and now b-lined it for Weipa.

The boys & I got together for a chat tonight to start planning our Cape Trip for next year. Bathurst Bay, Skardon River, Vrilya Point & the Tip are all on the agenda. Might even set up camp at Weipa for a few day's, and do a few day-trips out to Stoney's Crossing (or there-abouts )

Cheers

Well, Teabag and myself didnt wind up going to Cape Melville as the wind was doing some crazy stuff. We fished a couple of waterholes and the upper reaches of 2 rivers and caught a few barra. Teabag even got one on a gold bomber, which will be posted up for the benefit of our glorious editor just to show that gold bombers catch fish.

We met up with the rest of the group yesterday at Kalpowar then about lunchtime we left them to go to Cooktown. I must say, its really hard roughing it here, cold beers, fresh barra, cabin, cold beers, tv, air conditioning, cold beers, no dust and last but not least, cold beers.

The rest of the hoard should be arriving in Cooktown today and will have a few drinks together as this is the last night we will be together.

There have been a few problems with 2 of the vehicles on the trip but will cover this at a later date.

Anyway, i am off back to the beer fridge for a top up.
