We had a couple of light showers. When i was down the coast the other day we had some westerlies come in for a couple of hours. The humidity is building at the moment and it feels like we are not far away from a storm. The temp in the shade atm is 34 degrees.

Did all go well (apart from Nedly's rock kicking incident), any bogs, broken cars, drownings etc etc ?

Is anyone going to do a trip report or do we have to wait for the 2010 edition of Cape Yorker?

Glen
The trip went well, in general.
There were the usual things like:-
- Bent chassis
- Blown globes
- Incident with a tree
- Very tired fridge
- Failed Alternator
- Failed Starter motor
- Bogged in sand (mostly because of the trailer)
- Broken leg
- Battery problems

There were no drownings.

As for a trip report, I figured I'd leave that for others to do.
My report will (if accepted) be in the next edition of the mag.

You missed a great trip Glen.

The incident with a tree sounds interesting? They have been known to jump out in front of cars from time to time

No drownings? Nolans didn't claim anybody?

Yours is the third Nissan with that same Telstra service body fitted that I have heard of cracking in half. Lucky you caught it early.

I will have to order my 2010 edition soon then (haven't had time to read the 2009 mag yet)

The fitout of my new car is coming along nicely, cardboard boxes everywhere!

The bent chassis I was referring to wasn't mine, one of the Rodeo's bent the chassis on the trip, had it repaired at Weipa.

I met a guy at Cooktown, had a later model of the Telstra truck fitted with leaf springs same as mine, he showed me what Nissan had done to the chassis at the place where mine had cracked.
Nissan had fitted a plate to the area to avoid cracking problems, which means this is a design fault known to Nissan.

I wonder if I send the bill to Nissan if they'll reimburse me the cost to have this problem fixed?
Probably not

You will know Les that the squeaky wheel gets the oil!!

If you mention that you are considering reporting it as a safety issue to the ACCC for all the vehicles to be recalled you might get some immediate action. If they are aware of the fault and are do nothing about the existing vehicles then they are eligible for some major consequences from authorities.
Here is somewhere to start http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/in.../itemId/952401

Check out how many are already there!
